The timing of Shirley Temple's death has forced a change in the tradition of placing flowers at a Hollywood Walk of Fame star when an honoree dies.

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce spokeswoman Ana Martinez says Temple's star is in storage while repairs are being made to the Vine Street location where it would normally be embedded in the sidewalk.
Instead, the chamber will place flowers Tuesday morning on the center divider of Hollywood Boulevard at La Brea Avenue, which is considered a gateway to the Walk of Fame.

As a child star, Temple was America's top box-office draw from 1935 to 1938 and she was inducted into the Walk of Fame on Feb. 8, 1960.
Temple died Monday night at her home near San Francisco at age 85.
